ABOUT US

Point Your Toes Dance Studio was opened 7 years ago in the Ogden area of Wilmington, NC by studio owner, Melissa Derham. Her studio promises an enjoyable, nurturing environment while teaching your child to love dance.
 
We absolutely expect our staff to be  good role models for all of our students at the studio, as well as away. We have a warm and welcoming studio and invite you to come try a FREE class with us. 
 
We teach all boys and girls ages 2 and up. We offer many styles of dance: Ballet, tap,  jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, clogging, lyrical, tumbling, cheer and special needs.
We offer a flexible schedule with many class options. Please see our summer schedule posted on the website. 
 
Things you may like to know about us:
 
  • We have a spring recital!
  • We participate in local festivals and parades!
  • You can purchase your shoes, tights and leotards from us directly!
  • Tuition is due by the 10th of every month!!
  • Each style of dance has its own dress code!
  • We offer company classes!
  • We allow you to try one FREE class before signing up!

fall registration will be held on july 22nd from 3 to 6pm and july 23rd from 6 to 8pm at the ogden studio!!!! 
you can pick up a schedule at the studio or you can see it on facebook!!!!!

We also have company dance teams!!!

we have classes for children and young adults with disabilities!! this is my 10th year having these classes!!! come try a class for free!!!

  

MEET OUR STAFF

    Melissa Derham/Owner-Teacher
    I began dancing at age three with Joan Butler Institute of Dance in New York. I danced my entire life and my dream came true when I opened Point Your Toes in 2007. I am very excited to begin my eighth year and to continue teaching what I love to do. I've been married 19 years to my wonderful husband and we have two wonderful girls.

    Katy Hayes
    Katy is our special needs teacher here at the studio. She has always had a passion for the special needs community since she was a child. Katy started dancing when she was 3 years old and tap was always her favorite style of dance. When Katy was 12, she began student teaching in her first special needs class. Katy has 2 daughters who love to dance. She has been teaching with us for 6 years and loves every minute of it.
  3. Chelsea Thacker
    Chelsea Thacker
    Chelsea is 26 years old and is our cheer and tumble teacher. She started cheerleading and tumbling when she was 11 years old and competed until she was 18. Chelsea has coached recreational cheerleading and taught private tumbling classes. Teaching the cheer and tumbling classes at Point Your Toes has brought such joy to her life and is a rewarding experience.

    Jennifer is new to the studio and teaches Ballet, Tap and Jazz. She danced since she was three in Long Island NY. She just moved to Wilmington this summer and she is really excited to be part of PYT!!!
